FIRE – a mighty element with the power to create and destroy in equal measure. Hypnotizing, raging, soothing and magical, we can wonder at the dancing flame of a candle and fear the blaze of a forest fire. The sun is a huge ball of it and the centre of the earth is full of it. Most rituals incorporate it and every human being relies on it in one way or another. One thing we know for certain is that fire demands our respect!

As parents, we are constantly aware of our responsibilities towards our children. We watch our babies unfold and feel it is up to us to teach them everything from self esteem to road safety, from their first steps to social skills. Parenting can sometimes seem like one long road of teaching, guiding and disciplining. Yet this relationship can be a wonderful two way street if we are open to it. Intuitive, insightful, even telepathic, children can be a huge source of untapped wisdom. At times startling and at others hilarious, children are always full of surprising gems and it’s up to us to embrace them.
